Located 12 km from Ernakulam , Fort Kochi was once a fishing village of no significance in the Kingdom of Kochi in the pre-colonial Kerala, the territory that would be later known as Fort Kochi was granted to the Portuguese in 1503. An attraction on this beach site is the historic fort which helps you to get familiar with its eventful colonial history and European regimes who ruled it. Cochin Carnival on the New Year eve is a colourful festival not to be missed at the beach site. Chineese fishing nets, another unparalleled attraction of Fort Kochi, is awe inspiring and should not be missed.
The beach at Fort Kochi is is afavorite hunt for tourists. Enclosed by coconut palms and dense bushes, Fort Kochi Beach is a viewer's delight. Its historic essense has not been overlooked or forgotten by the overlapping waves of the sea and have not erased the colorful past associated with the beach.
